CANCELLED Friday, 20 November 2020: Taste of Radicchio at Italian Cultural Centre

Please note, this event has been cancelled due to rising Covid-19 cases in Metro Vancouver.

TASTE OF… is the Italian Cultural Centre’s popular series of themed dinners that take guests on a gastronomical trip across Italy. Spanning from the northern regions all the way down to the Mediterranean islands, our guests will be able to taste not only regional specialties, but also creative dishes inspired by the rich Italian culinary tradition.

On this evening, we explore a traditional Italian ingredient, the radicchio. Radicchio is a perennial variety of chicory, very common in Italian cuisine. It has a bitter and spicy taste, that mellows during the cooking process. While some varieties are specific to some locations (for example, the Radicchio Rosso di Treviso, the Cicoria Variegata di Chioggia, etc…), chicory varieties are found – and cooked – in all regions of Italy, from north to south.

MENU

  • Grilled Radicchio Salad with Arugula, Balsamic Vinegar & Grana Padano
  • Radicchio, Aglio e Olio
Rapini, Cherry Tomatoes and Roasted Garlic
  • Gnocchi with Radicchio Pesto and Goat Cheese
  • Pork Tenderloin with Radicchio Peperonata
